Since his arrival on the bench in Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez has played a very important role in some negotiations to strengthen the Barcelona team, in addition to being the technical director of the first team.
Barcelona has taken advantage of his personality, which is highly valued in the football world, to impress players such as Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde.
Xavi Hernandez, in an interview with ESPN, admitted that he also made a move to acquire the services of one of the most promising Brazilian pearls, Endrick.
Xavi said: “We spoke with his father and also spoke directly with the player himself. I explained to them the project we have in Barcelona. We want talented players and he is very talented.”
He added, “He has a sense of purpose, dribbling, and a brutal ability to make the difference. He is the player of the present, already playing in the Brazilian league, and also the player of the future.”
As Xavi admitted: “He’s the kind of player we need. Learn about the project as we speak. I hope he will join us.” And he concluded: “It (the project) depends on it.”
In the same interview, Xavi explained why he refused the Brazilian national team when he was coach of the Qatari Al Sadd: “They came to Qatar and offered me to be part of Tite’s coaching staff, but I wanted to be a coach, not an assistant. It would have been a huge opportunity, but it didn’t happen because it was clear that I wanted to be a Barcelona coach. This was my dream and now I am here.”
