Alejandro Balde’s contract with Barcelona has not been renewed and this has many Premier League teams interested in trying to get his signature.
Negotiations to renew Balde’s contract were going strong to sign a contract until 2027 with a termination clause worth 500 million euros. Both the player and Barcelona are clear about his continuation, and therefore, the full-back’s recent statements, in which he left his future open, were surprising.
These statements have a lot to do with the impossibility of registering this new contract in La Liga now due to the salary limit, so it will not be valid until the summer and then it will also be necessary to see if there is enough margin to bear it at the time.
Wow, the salary increase will be delayed for six months, which the player and his environment did not like.
Barcelona is doing everything it can to solve this problem, as is the case with the registration of new contracts for Araujo and Gavi. With Pablo, the club’s president, Juan Laporta, has already assumed that nothing can be done until the summer while there is some hope with the other two.
Barcelona’s idea is to close this renewal now, before the January market closes and records. If this is not possible, the player will receive a refund in the future, but at this point there is no agreement and English clubs can enter the fray.
Balde’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has already told Barcelona on more than one occasion that if the club needs money, the full-back could be a safe source of income. In Barcelona they don’t even think about it and that’s why they will try to solve everything before the end of January.
The situation is complicated and related to the problem of the Blaugrana club’s salary limit, but what is clear is that his current contract expires in 2024 and clubs such as Arsenal and Newcastle have contacted his agents to test his signature.
