Barcelona reaches a final agreement with Kante

Barcelona is going a lot to get Kante’s signature for next season and at no cost. The Frenchman has been in contact with the Blaugrana club for weeks and the rules of the agreement have been practically closed at the expense of how he will recover from his hamstring injury.

In Barcelona, they believe it is a good opportunity in the market for the French player whose presence could be very essential in the new project.

Kante called Barcelona last summer but his position was not a priority. The French player wants to leave the English Premier League, and in principle he will not accept a renewal with Chelsea, so he will be free in June.

It is clear that Barcelona see him as a top-level player and that at the age of 31 he can achieve both physical fitness and experience. Everything progressed normally and could be closed in January if the player recovers.

The biggest obstacle is the hamstring injury that Kante underwent surgery on at the end of October and made him miss the World Cup. Barcelona want him as long as there are no physical doubts because given his characteristics, the French player must be one hundred percent fit.

Xavi Hernandez likes Kanté’s choice to provide physicality and expertise in an area of the pitch that is commanded by the youngest players in the squad. The Frenchman is a very positional player, but he has great physical strength. He can play perfectly in front of defense and has competed at the highest level in European competitions.

Kante’s profile suited him from the start, but Barcelona are also clear that despite the fact that he arrives for free, his salary must adapt to the club’s financial needs.

Kante earns a lot of money at Chelsea, something that will not happen at Barcelona because his contract will be with a fixed salary plus variables depending on performance and titles. It’s a glimpse of the contracts Barcelona are doing now.

Likewise, FC Barcelona remains very attentive to teammate Jorginho, who is also ending his contract, and to Gundogan, from Manchester City.

In the latter case, Barcelona considers that the matter is more complicated, because Gundogan may renew for City for a year after Guardiola continues, or decide to return to the German League.

The Kante deal is the most advanced due to a technical decision and a tentative agreement could be reached in January pending good physicals.
