Frenkie de Jong calls his new club’s manager: “I’m coming”

De Jong has always expressed his desire to continue at Barcelona, but it is also true that before the World Cup he expressed his dissatisfaction with the Barcelona board and even Xavi Hernandez for not standing up for him when the club put him up for sale last summer.

This rift in the relationship between the two parties, in addition to Barcelona’s urgent need to reduce his salary, could motivate his decision to listen to offers at the end of the season.

Barcelona have insisted in recent weeks that De Jong is not for sale, but it is also clear internally that an agreement must be reached to reduce his salary at any rate.

The Dutch player and his representatives ignore the reduction request because they are aware that Frenkie has already cut his salary substantially in the past and is now receiving the money owed as stipulated in the contract.

Barcelona are not anticipating moves now in January and it will be necessary to see if they need to sell him in June due to the salary limit. The club maintain that they want de Jong to stay, although if the player opens the doors to an exit, everything could change.

Last summer, a transfer agreement was reached with Manchester United for just over 80 million euros between fixed and variable, but the player did not want to negotiate his departure, so he continued with the team.

Frenkie de Jong is back in the transfer window. Manchester United did not give up and will continue to try to sign him, although he considers it best to close the deal in the summer.

According to the British newspaper Mirror, de Jong is now more open to a change of scenery and has already contacted Manchester United coach, Eric Ten Hag, so they see it as possible to reach an agreement between all.

Manchester United, through its owners, have €200m to invest in transfers and the idea is to reshape the entire midfield to try and win titles.

The ambitious goal of the English team is to sign Bellingham (Dortmund) and try to agree on the arrival of Frenkie de Jong once and for all. And they believe their persistence with the Dutchman has finally paid off.
