Lionel Messi was crowned the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after defeating France on penalties in the final match that was held on Sunday evening at Lusail Stadium. The flea scored 6 goals in the tournament and won the best player award as well.
Messi competed this year in his fourth World Cup and lifted the precious trophy for the first time in his history at the age of 35, so everyone began to wonder if he would retire from playing with Argentina or continue his career with the tango shirt.
Messi spoke after the match and said: “It is a wonderful achievement and a dream I have always dreamed of achieving, but I believed that I would achieve it one day. I did not want my career to end without winning the World Cup.”

And Messi decided his decision on international retirement with the Argentine national team after winning the World Cup, when he said: “I want to continue playing in the Argentine shirt and I am the world champion.”
